MOST Proposal

Towards Development and Evaluation of a Transport index for a Healthy Aging Society

Concepts

I want to exploit quantitative methods to evaluate social current phenomena and utilize the statistics to improve its status quo. With this main concept, this project is built based on the social innovation concepts---SDGs(Sustainable Development Goals) to take care good care of Elderly’s health and enhance Social Welfare.

The whole solution is constructing a quantitative evaluation index that evaluate whether a city is livable for the elderly, and potentially improve the current situation for the elderly living in urban cities. The focus of improvements would be indicators for transportation due its spatial character.

The methodology utilized in this research is based on literature review to develop a questionnaire, fulfill empirical study with the analysis of questionnaires results, further calculate the weights for the indicators in the evaluation index system, and set up a dynamic web map to demonstrate the research results openly for the public.

The open statistics and interactive web map would be constructed as a web page by HTML,CSS, and JavaScript to make sure the information is well-arranged. Moreover, I’ll put UI/UX designing principles to maintain its usability. The original static web map would be constructed with the skills of Cartography to make sure its readability and the quality of its beauty.

The Results presentation has three parts:

 (1) conferences publishing and presentation

 (2) providing vision for future study

 (3) open resources for the public

For the conferences publishing and presentation, this research planned to participate in one conference: either the International Symposium on Remote Sensing or the Asian Conference on Remote Sensing (ACRS) 2020.

Upon successful development during this project, I would like to illustrate this concept to professional scholars in Asia and to obtain also valuable feedback from other fields to improve, exchange opinions with them and to optimize the index with their constructive suggestions.

As the specific algorithm for the Healthy aging index hasn't yet been determined, the quantitative methods adopted by this research attempts to provide a vision for WHO and for future studies to quantify the indicators of other sectors or improve the evaluation measures of Transportation index.

Lastly, the active web pages with open resources are placed on the Internet , the public are granted full opportunity to have some insights and hopefully utilize the information to predict future circumstances.
