1082 Spring

Railway  Public Transportation

Planning Competition

Goo Trans

I enrolled in a class of Department of Digital Content and Technology(DCT) called “Human-Computer Interaction with Touch-based Interfaces” this semester(1082).

Our first project is participating in the Railway Public Transportation Planning Competition and solve an issue with TUI(Touch User Interface)

My team anticipated to solve the information gap providing for the passengers aims to transfer from the high speed railway station of Taichung through the on-building Oo-ji̍t-khu(烏日) transfer center to the also on-constructing MRT lines of Taichung City.

We hope to utilize the concept of UI/UX designing principles to optimize the transferring information and integrate the TUI(Touching User Interface) to the current electronized static tablet. With the interactive HCI(Human-Computer Interaction), we hope to provide positive User Experiences to the User(passengers) , encouraging the Usage and Convenience to take Public Transportation system in Taichung city. Since there only 20% of population take Public Transportation system in their daily lives, and most were composed of Private Vehicles.

My team utilized the UI flow and Wireframe methods in UI designing methods to demonstrate our concepts.

Our UI flow was drawn with the software—Xmind to build a mind map that tells us how many functions and corresponding pages we would need eventually.

Compare with other UI flow, the pages seemed not that much, and the reason is the Medium we’re using is a big electronic tablet rather than an app which will be demonstrated on everybody’s phone.

In order to standardize the size of tablet to reduce the cost and meanwhile increase its feasibility, the Designing Size of the Wireframe methods was based on the true current hanging static electronized static tablet(91*28), which is literally measured by one of our team members.

The whole mechanism has to be triggered by a touch of the screen to lead to the home page. While we put the Signifiers—“Start Using” to notify them.

We hope to gain the opportunity to put our design into practice to be the model of the Smart bus station tablets with concepts combining with TUI (Touching User Interface), HCI(Human-Computer Interaction), and User-Friendly.

And by the time, the on-building Oo-ji̍t-khu(烏日) transfer center and MRT lines of Taichung City is build, solving the air pollution related to their transportation behavior—being used to driving their own private vehicles as the transportation way and seldom take Public Transportation. Hoping the User experience along with the Transportation Policy they released recently can truly raise their fond of utilizing Public Transportation.
